Innovative Thinkers

In today’s world of technology kids have become the master.  Many between 3-7 years old have never seen a phone in the home, but have their own cell phones, lap tops, and I Pads to use daily.  In the workplace when the older generation don’t embrace technology they are replaced with today’s generation of business executives at an alarming rate.  I know that the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Department of Transportation is recruiting ex-military personnel with Military Occupation Specialties in logistics and truck drivers because they know systems.

Innovative Thinkers become Proficient Users of Technology are prepared for life beyond high school and are fully literate communicators.  In the business world filled with opportunities on an international level they become “Global Citizens”.  Thinking is a rare commodities since there are so many programs and plug ins available to load onto computers until when a system goes down in a restaurant or mall cashiers no longer rely on their adding skills to make change.  They no longer sound out words for correct spelling because they have spell check, and in many ways have become complacent.

Industry resource managers evaluate new hires through testing, and by their resumes, and they are placed on probation for 90 days or more to prove their worth and value to the firm.  Those that can’t prove themselves during the probationary period are dismissed, and the next trial applicant is provided an opportunity for employment.

Don’t get thrown under the bus because you can’t read, write, understand technology, or educational back ground does not meet the standards of the position that you are applying for.  Bring aptitude to a position, not attitude to the work place, think out of the box, and bring innovative concepts, and new ideas so that you work smarter, not harder.

From the first day when you apply for a job or a career the interviewed makes their assessment.  You don’t get a second chance to make a good first impression.  Whether the career be transportation or sanitation learn to comprehend, and evaluate your potential to either succeed or fail.
