Summary: Responsible for the transportation management of finished goods, raw materials and (WIP) intermediates from Plant/Sourcing down to the last mile delivery. Responsible for management of logistics programs and projects for SBUs or product lines in US Region. Operates independently using a logistics/quality infrastructure for corrective, preventative and innovative solutions. This individual will also be accountable for ensuring consistency of processes, scorecards and KPIs across the U.S. This includes facilitating best practices and idea sharing as well within the region and across the globe. Essential duties and responsibilities include: – Manage finished good inventory levels, and establish service levels for product groups. – Ensures collaborative compliance with all Baxter and International Trade and export compliance rules and regulations. – Optimizes the US transportation of all products and channels; including replenishment & B2B/B2C distribution. – Monitor, measure and identifies performance requirements of service providers. – Develop and present policy along with short and long-term strategies to senior management to achieve budget requirements. – Provide input on long-term strategic goals such as customer satisfaction/cash flow improvement programs. – Lead the contract negotiations/Bids processes with Carriers, Brokers, LTL and Commercial fleet providers to secure the best cost at the right service level. – Drive operational excellence and best practice within the organization. – Exert influence with senior management and manage activities of logistics planning/analyst team. – Accountable for value improvement initiatives and budgeted spend across the categories of Replenishment & Distribution to end customer. – Manage and optimize the Transportation organization: Direct, motivate, train, develop and appraise transportation personnel. – Strong leadership skills including leading projects with broad scope and impact outside own department and promotes teamwork between departments – Complete, in-depth understanding of all aspects of the business including profitability, inventory turns and service levels – Strong communication skills (with staff, peers, and upper management) and ability to develop rapport with other functional leaders inside Baxter and Supply base – Ability to do analysis of tradeoffs between business objectives – ability to think systemically – Embraces change, challenges status quo and makes recommendations for improvements to products and processes. Creates tools that help simplify job tasks and shares these with others – Requires the ability to influence the thinking of, or gain acceptance of, others in sensitive situations – Supervises, coaches, and develops others – Cost management – Detail oriented along with strong planning and organization skills – Drives results through team leadership and self – Strong problem solving, negotiating, solutions orientation and presentation skills – Ability to communicate across multiple levels of the organization – Capable of analyzing and solving complex problems through innovative thought – Drives a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration across the functions to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to meet budget requirements. Educational Requirements include: – BS in Operational/Logistics or similar degree – Master Degree preferred – At least 15+ years related experience. – APICS certification preferred.
