Shipping Manager
Position Summary
This individual will be responsible for sourcing trucking companies, sourcing logistics for international freight, setup shipping for semi loads, oversee loading of trucks, make sure we are in DOT compliance, oversee and manage our finishing department, and manage personnel.
Position Status
This position is a full time hourly position communicating with various departments reporting directly to the Operations Manager.
Qualifications
Educations and Experience
High School or GED diploma required. Print interpretation a plus.
Prior DOT Compliance
Prior Logistics knowledge
Fork-Truck experience
Prior experience in shipping department
Prior supervisor experience
Competencies
Good communication skills both written and oral
Ability to maintain and change schedules with little notice
React to hectic work schedule to get products out on time
Good organizational skills
Cooperation with customers, vendors and fellow employees
Fork-truck skills and computer skills a must
Physical Requirements
Moderate physical efforts or strenuous activity including walking, standing, bending, reaching and carrying loads up to 50 lbs
Working in hot, cold, dusty and windy environment while loading and un-loading trucks
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee all shipping functions for the facility
Unloading trucks, including small boxes to large plates involving usage of fork-trucks and hand dollies
Processing of all paperwork for all incoming items and making sure the items are received properly and distributed to the appropriate departments
Gathering of all components and parts that are scheduled for daily shipments
May include working with supervisors and other departments to bring all processes together
Stamping and marking of parts
Occasional deliveries
Maintain Inventory-Organization
Computer Knowledge
Final visual inspection of products going out to customers and assistance in processing of paperwork
Work Conditions and Environment
Our normal hours of business are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. – 5 days per week based on a 40 hour work week. Working 50% out-doors and 50% in-doors in various climates year round.
