Logistics Associate
Summary
Gathers and updates information required to assist in the management and dispatch of barges and boats in an assigned area. Supports the Logistic Managers and Logistic Dispatchers by communicating barge placement, planning, allocation, and boat planning information to the customers. Documents barge release and placement information. Communicates boat orders and orchestrates port occurrences with harbor services. Supports Logistics Dispatchers, Logistic Managers, and System Planners by gathering information and assisting with area forecasts
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide support to the Logistic Managers and Logistic Dispatchers by communicating boat & barge positions, schedules, and other information as required. Perform Logistic Manager and Logistic Dispatcher duties as required during sick leave absences. Performs the Logistic Manager’s and Logistic Dispatcher’s tasks and duties as needed on weekends and during vacations. Reconcile invoices Update barge release and placement information. Notify customers of pending arrivals and projected availability. Verbally notify customer and document barge placement and release Update vendor traffic. Communicates orders to Harbor Services and orchestrate port occurrences. Gather information and assist with area forecasts. Check barging exceptions and make corrections. Research dispatch area anomalies. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience/Demands
Education
High School Diploma/GED
Additional Education
High School diploma (Associate degree in business or a related field is preferred)
Years of Experience
1-2 years of competence in a customer service related field in dispatching, office or call center support role.
